Use It or Lose It

This is the time of year we start getting busier as patients hurry to use their flex spending accounts. Contact lenses, eyeglasses, and eye exams are a great way to use those benefits that, in some cases, expire at the end of the year.

Also, many patients who have met their medical deductible for the year are using their insurance for preventive care such as eye examinations. Medicare is an example of an insurance that will cover your eye examination for the medical portion of your visit. The refraction (“which is better 1 or 2”) or vision part of the visit is not covered by Medicare.
